The Role We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of Christchurch’s most respected civil construction companies for an experienced Paving Foreman to join their surfacing team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering strong long-term stability, excellent leadership support, and the chance to work with a highly regarded civil contractor delivering quality projects across the region. We are specifically targeting candidates from the Auckland and Waikato markets who may be looking for a lifestyle change or a fresh opportunity in the South Island. Relocation assistance is available for the right person. Due to our clients’ requirements and timeframes, only candidates with eligibility to work in New Zealand will be considered for this role. Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and coordinating paving crews, subcontractors and plant operations to deliver paving works safely, efficiently and to the required programme and quality standards
- Monitoring workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards, including carrying out quality inspections, maintaining records and coordinating corrective actions where required.
- Operating and overseeing paving plant and associated equipment, ensuring correct set-up, safe operation and routine maintenance across varying materials, site conditions and paving methods.
- Championing health, safety and environmental compliance on site by conducting toolbox meeting, inductions, safety observations and promoting a proactive, positive safety culture.
- Training, mentoring and supporting crew members in best-practice paving techniques, including preparation, levels, compaction, jointing and finishing, to strengthen team capability and performance.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of paving plant and compaction equipment
- Experience using other heavy machinery including Pavers and compactor
- Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Worked across a wide range of projects including civil construction environment
- A Class 2 full licence with TWR endorsements essentials
